On June 27-July 4, 2024, the Woodland High School students: Alison Bannister, Roxanna Britt, Ayanna Brown, Kennedy Brown, Talania Brown, Majesty Elmore, Janelle Footman, Zoee Middleton, Davina Perry, Justice Pryor, Kamari Pryor, and Peter Smith attended the 2024 Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) National Leadership Conference held in Seattle, Washington.
During the conference, the students attended leadership workshops and participated in various competitions with students nationwide. Majesty Elmore, First Vice President, along with seven other SC FCCLA state officers, hosted the South Carolina State meeting. They presented valuable membership information and facilitated engaging activities for all delegates who attended. She also attended leadership training and workshops, and served on the National Officer Candidate committee and the election process. The highlights of the conference were witnessing Alison Bannister receive a Bronze Medal in her category of Public Policy Advocacy, and Davina Perry and Kamari Pryor receiving Silver Medals for their category of Interpersonal Communication. In addition, Ayanna Brown, Kennedy Brown, and Talania Brown received Silver Medals in their category of Focus on Children, as well as Roxanna Britt, Janelle Footman, and Justice Pryor receiving Bronze Medals in their category of Interpersonal Communication.
We were thrilled to have Peter Smith fulfill his duties as a National Officer during the 2023-2024 school year and represent 240,000 members nationwide. Peter relinquished his office as National Vice President of Competitive Events and ended his term by participating in a red table talk. Lastly, in recognition of the excellent leadership demonstrated at Woodland High School and on the South Carolina State level, Linda Lewis, FCCLA Adviser, was acknowledged as the "Spirit of Adviser Award" recipient at the 2024 Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) National Leadership Conference general session.
Woodland High School, Dorchester School District 4, and the entire community are extremely proud of this group of students and their advisor. Mrs. Lewis and past FCCLA members have fostered a culture of excellence that we eagerly anticipate continuing for years to come.
