The Wolverines faced a challenging evening on the court, taking on the Swamp Foxes in a series of intense matchups that tested their resilience and teamwork.

The junior varsity girls opened strong, showing determination despite a difficult start. Briauna Hanberry led the team with a valiant effort, scoring a team-high 3 points. However, the Swamp Foxes proved formidable, pulling away to hand the Wolverines a tough 9-30 loss. Despite the outcome, the team’s ability to work together stood out as a positive takeaway.

On the boys' junior varsity side, the Wolverines came out with energy, leading 6-2 at the end of the first quarter. By halftime, the momentum shifted, leaving them trailing 10-6. The team rallied in the second half, reclaiming the lead with a 20-17 advantage. In a dramatic turn of events, the game tied at 20-20 and headed into overtime. After an exhausting four overtime periods, the Wolverines narrowly fell short, losing 38-41. Standout player #14 Jhailen Herrin showcased exceptional resilience, while Head Coach Rania Thompson and Assistant Coach Busch kept the team focused throughout the marathon game.

The varsity Lady Wolverines battled hard against the Swamp Foxes, entering halftime down 7-30. Despite the setback, the team demonstrated grit and determination. Seventh-grader Essence Walker stepped up, leading the team in scoring, while the loss of standout player Makaila Adgerson to injury was a significant blow. The Lady Wolverines ultimately closed the game with a 21-56 defeat, but their teamwork remained commendable.

The varsity boys started with impressive energy, gaining an early 9-point lead at 10-19. By halftime, the Swamp Foxes had tied the game at 26-26. The second half saw the Wolverines regain a five-point lead, only for the Swamp Foxes to mount a comeback and take control. The absence of star player JaKease Sally was felt as the team struggled to keep up. Trayvon Tate led the scoring effort, but the Wolverines ultimately fell 48-66 after a hard-fought effort.

It was a tough night across all divisions for the Wolverines, but the players and coaches showed moments of brilliance and determination. As they regroup, the team will aim to use these experiences to fuel their growth and come back stronger in their upcoming games.
