Dorchester School District 4 is delighted to continue its "Everyday Hero" employee recognition program, celebrating the exceptional individuals who play crucial roles in the success of our schools. These hardworking employees often operate behind the scenes, ensuring the smooth functioning of our schools while contributing to the education and well-being of our students.
Each month, the district shines a spotlight on these dedicated staff members to express appreciation for their unwavering commitment. "Everyday Heroes" receive a certificate of appreciation and a distinguished coin from Superintendent Beckwith, a token of the district’s profound gratitude for their remarkable service.
This month, we are honored to recognize three individuals, the second of which is Mrs. Damitha Wertz, a dedicated Receptionist and Attendance Clerk at Williams Memorial Elementary School (WMES).
Mrs. Wertz greets everyone who walks through the doors of WMES with a warm and welcoming smile. Her kindness, compassion, and caring demeanor have made her an invaluable member of the school community.
Principal Ruth Mims, who nominated Mrs. Wertz, shared heartfelt praise for her exceptional contributions:
"Mrs. Wertz is the first person anyone coming into the office at Williams Memorial Elementary sees. She always has a smile on her face as well as in her voice. Mrs. Wertz is patient and empathetic when someone comes in or calls needing help. Her caring nature is felt throughout the office area because she is always checking in on the Administrative Team to make sure we have what we need or what we may need done. Mrs. Wertz is very detail-oriented and purposeful in making sure the day-to-day operations of the school flow smoothly."
Principal Mims continued:
"At any given time, she will stop what she is doing to help wherever she is needed. Her enthusiasm and positivity are a valued part of the job that she does. Even though Mrs. Wertz stays busy during the day with running the front office, answering the telephone, and keeping up with transportation changes, the students and staff love to see what she has created for the bulletin boards in the hallway that she has undertaken this year to design. Mrs. Wertz has been a wonderful addition and is an integral part of the office staff at Williams Memorial Elementary School."
Mrs. Wertz’s steadfast dedication and determination to always give her best make her an inspiring member of the WMES team. Her creativity, attention to detail, and genuine care for others enrich the school environment daily.
