WHS Weight Lifting Team

The Woodland High School weightlifting team, led by Coach Brooks Burnette, has once again demonstrated their strength and determination by winning the Team Region Championship for the second year in a row. Their dedication and hard work have paid off, securing back-to-back titles and reinforcing their reputation as a powerhouse in the sport.

In addition to their team victory, several student-athletes placed in their individual divisions, earning recognition for their outstanding performances.

Lower Division Results:
170 lbs – TJ Lary, 2nd place, State Qualifier
180 lbs – Colin Ferguson, 1st place, Region Champion and State Qualifier
235 lbs – Kye White, 2nd place, State Qualifier
Unlimited – Jakobi Doctor, 2nd place, State Qualifier
160 lbs – Dorian Britt, 3rd place
Unlimited – Owen Messex, 4th place

Upper Division Results:
180 lbs – Izaiah Barnes, 2nd place, State Qualifier
205 lbs – Zishawn Majette, 2nd place, State Qualifier
220 lbs – Dwayne Blanden, 3rd place, State Qualifier
150 lbs – Al-Casio Teel, 3rd place
160 lbs – Seamus McCann, 2nd place
160 lbs – Hayden Rodriguez, 3rd place
Unlimited – Tyreon Summerson, 4th place

Seven of these athletes have qualified for the state championship and will compete in Columbia on the 22nd. Their hard work and dedication continue to bring pride to Woodland High School.
